Erik Spoelstra’s ex-wife Nikki calls out critics latching on to ‘thirst trap’ talk

Nikki Spoelstra isn’t here for the needless commentary.

In a post shared Wednesday on Instagram, Nikki — who was previously married to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra — called out internet critics for latching on to the “‘thirst trap’ narrative” after sharing a series of full-body snaps.

“Knock it off with the ‘thirst trap’ narrative guys, I’m not here for it,” Nikki, a former Heat dancer, began. “I’m 37 years old and I’ve had THREE babies. I was a dancer my whole life, turned pro, taught dance up until I had those kids. Into fitness and fashion/style IN ADDITION to all the healing things.

“And… if you *really* wanna see me in an alleged ‘thirst trap,’ check out the miami heat dancers posters from 2005-2008 and let me know if the trap was, um… Trappin. I have a sneaky suspicion that it did.”

Nikki concluded her post with a playful shoutout to the South Florida-based REFRESH by Mairi boutique, writing, “Also the mirrors at @refresh_rbm are amazing. I love it here.”

This isn’t the first time Nikki has taken online trolls to task.

Back in January, “The Know with Nikki Spo” podcast host responded to a comment on her social media feed that read, “Way to fumble the bag,” in the wake of Spoelstra’s eight-year, $120 million contract extension which was signed around the same time as the divorce.

“Lol. I’m going to address this comment NOT as it pertains to my personal life choices but as it relates to a general thought process that I believe a lot of people have and that a lot of people have harassed me with over the years,” Nikki wrote at the time.

“According to crass, ignorant, uninformed society at large, women can’t ‘win.’

“Women can’t be genuinely in love with someone successful. No, they’re pretending and they’re in it for the money. And if a woman chooses to not be with a successful partner, apparently she’s an idiot.”

She later explained why she won’t ignore such remarks.

“IgNoRiNg iT (harassment) for years messed with my emotional health and people need to have a better understanding of how their words can affect other people,” Nikki shared.

“Not just me. But people. In general. Be nicer.”

Spoelstra, 53, and Nikki announced in November 2023 they were parting ways after seven years of marriage.

“We are both grateful for our relationship and remain fully committed to co-parenting our children and continuing to make them our shared priority,” they said of their children, Santiago, Dante and Ruby, in a joint statement.

The Miami Herald reported at the time they had finalized their divorce.

Spoelstra’s Heat are coming off a first-round playoff ouster to the Celtics — one year after an NBA Finals appearance when they lost to the Nuggets in five games.
